WhatsApp has officially released its dedicated app for Apple Watch, available now to beta testers via TestFlight. The new companion app allows users to read and reply to messages, send quick replies, react with emojis, and share voice notes—all directly from the Apple Watch. Unlike before, when only basic notification mirroring was possible, this upgrade brings richer messaging functionality to the wrist.

The app automatically syncs with the iPhone, requiring the phone to stay connected, but no QR code scanning is needed for setup. Users can browse recent chats, view media, and see pinned or disappearing messages from their watch. Although not fully standalone yet, this release is a significant step forward for WhatsApp on Apple Watch. A wider public rollout is expected in the coming weeks or months, though no official release date has been announced.

This app finally fulfills a long-standing user request, bringing WhatsApp’s convenience closer to other messaging platforms on watchOS and allowing Apple Watch users more control over their chats without reaching for their iPhone.
