Xiaomi has announced that its new Android 16-based operating system, HyperOS 3, will officially launch on August 28, 2025. The company will hold a dedicated event in China at 15:00 CST (12:30 PM IST) to unveil the update and its features.
HyperOS 3 aims to improve the user experience with smoother animations, better system responsiveness, and a more polished user interface. It will also bring some key Android 16 features like Advanced Protection Mode, Live Updates, Material 3 Expressive, better predictive back gestures, and improved search in the photo picker.

The update will be first available in beta form for flagship phones like the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, Xiaomi 15, Xiaomi 15 Pro, and Redmi K80 Pro, as well as tablets like the Xiaomi Pad 7 series. Xiaomi’s President, Lu Weibing, emphasized that user feedback and experience have been key in designing this update to feel natural, smooth, and easy to use.
After the beta testing phase, the stable version is expected to roll out starting mid-September, with more devices receiving the update in phases over the following months. Older budget, mid-range, and flagship devices from Xiaomi, Poco, and Redmi will also become eligible over time.
