Leaked renders offer a glimpse into the design of the upcoming Google Pixel 9, suggesting a cohesive design language that could unify the entire Pixel 9 lineup. This approach has the potential to strengthen Google’s smartphone brand identity by creating a more recognizable and consistent visual aesthetic across its flagship devices.
The Pixel 9 appears similar to the previously leaked Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL, hinting at a unified design approach for all three phones. This could give the Pixel 9 series a more cohesive look and feel.
However, the Google Pixel 9 differentiates itself by sporting only two rear cameras, compared to the triple-lens setup expected on the Pro models. Earlier leaks that showcased the Pixel 9 Pro XL were initially mistaken for the Pixel 9, but this has now been clarified.
The leaked renders also shed light on the Pixel 9’s display size. At 6.03 inches, it’s slightly smaller than the rumored 6.1-inch display on the Pixel 9 Pro. The Pixel 9’s dimensions are reported to be 152.8 x 71.9 x 8.5mm, which interestingly aligns with the leaked dimensions for the Pixel 9 Pro.
This contradicts a 2022 Pixel roadmap leak that suggested a 6.1-inch display for the Pixel 9 and a smaller 6.3-inch display for the Pixel 9 Pro (codenamed “caiman”). The leak also mentioned a larger Pixel 9 Pro XL (codenamed “komodo”) with a 6.7-inch display.
The Pixel 9 series is expected to be powered by the next-generation Tensor G4 chip, codenamed “Redondo.” Other specifications remain undisclosed, but more details are likely to surface closer to the expected launch in October.
