Google is expanding its Fast Pair functionality to encompass a wider range of Google TV devices, bringing a more streamlined pairing experience for your Bluetooth headphones and earbuds.

What is Fast Pair?

Fast Pair, initially introduced in 2022, simplifies the process of connecting compatible Bluetooth audio devices to your Android phone. Once a device is in pairing mode, your phone automatically detects it, eliminating the need to manually search for and connect through settings.

What’s New?

Previously limited to Chromecast with Google TV, Fast Pair is now rolling out to all Google TV devices running Android 12. This includes various models from brands like Sony and TCL, alongside Android TV boxes.

How Does it Work?

While not all Bluetooth audio devices support Fast Pair, compatible options like Pixel Buds and Sony WH-1000XM5 will benefit from this update. Upon enabling pairing mode on your headphones or earbuds, your Google TV will automatically recognize and display a connection prompt.

Important Notes:

  • Initial pairing requires manual setup through your TV’s settings. Subsequent connections will be automatic once the device is recognized nearby.
  • Only one device can be connected to your Google TV using Fast Pair at a time.
  • Fast Pair leverages your Google Account, allowing for seamless pairing across various devices and easy switching between them.

In summary, this wider rollout of Fast Pair for Google TV devices signifies Google’s commitment to enhancing the user experience by offering a more convenient and efficient way to connect your audio accessories.
