CMF, a sub-brand of Nothing, is gearing up to launch its first phone, the CMF Phone (1), in India. Targeting a budget-conscious audience, the CMF Phone (1) is expected to be a more affordable alternative to the Nothing Phone (2a).

Specifications Borrowed from Nothing Phone (2a):

Leaks suggest the CMF Phone (1) will share many features with the Nothing Phone (2a), including a sizeable 6.67-inch OLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The camera department is expected to feature a 50MP primary sensor on the back, accompanied by a 16MP front-facing camera for selfies. While details about the secondary rear camera remain unclear, the phone will likely pack a punch in the photography department.

Performance and Software:

Under the hood, the CMF Phone (1) is rumored to sport a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset, ensuring smooth performance for everyday tasks. The phone boasts a long-lasting 5000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging, making quick power top-ups a breeze. While it falls short of the Nothing Phone (2a)’s 45W charging, it should still provide adequate charging speeds.

The CMF Phone (1) is expected to come with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM, offering ample multitasking capabilities. Storage options are said to include 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, with the added benefit of expandable storage via a microSD card slot for those needing even more space.

On the software side, the Phone (1) is tipped to run the latest Android 14 with Nothing OS 2.6 on top. This custom interface should provide a familiar user experience for fans of Nothing phones while offering the perks of the newest Android version. Connectivity options are said to include Dual 5G, Bluetooth 5.3, and Wi-Fi 6, ensuring you stay connected anytime, anywhere.

Unique Design with a Twist:

One key difference between the Phone (1) and its Nothing counterpart is the design. The CMF Phone (1) ditches the signature Glyph interface, opting for a more traditional, replaceable plastic back cover. However, to retain a bit of Nothing flair, the phone will reportedly come with a “Nothing Lock” feature, allowing users to attach exclusive add-ons, potentially hinting at future customization options.

Pricing and Availability:

The CMF Phone (1) is expected to be a budget-friendly option, with a starting price of around USD 249 (approximately Rs. 20,740) for the 128GB model. The 256GB variant is estimated to cost USD 279 (approximately Rs. 23,240). Color options are rumored to include Black, Green, Blue, and an exclusive Orange color for the Indian market. The launch is anticipated for July 2024, so stay tuned for more details as the release date approaches.
